Kang Ha Neul is a South Korean actor who started out on the musical stage in 2006 under his birth name, Kim Ha Neul, and took the stage name Kang Ha Neul in 2010 to avoid confusion with the actress of the same name. He broke through on television with Misaeng: Incomplete Life (2014) and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), and won the Baeksang Arts Award for Best Actor for When the Camellia Blooms (2019). On film he has played the poet Yun Dong-ju in Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet (2016) and a police cadet in Midnight Runners (2017), and he reached a new international audience as Kang Dae-ho in Squid Game (2024 — 2025). In The Heirs (2013) he played Lee Hyo Shin, the student president pushed towards law by his family while he would rather be making films.
