Gong Yoo has been acting since 2001, and broke through as Choi Han Kyul in Coffee Prince (2007) — the last thing he filmed before serving in the military from 2008 to 2009. He came back to the drama Silenced (2011), then to the year that made him internationally known: Train to Busan and The Age of Shadows in 2016, and Kim Shin, the nine-hundred-year-old immortal of Goblin (2016). He has since appeared in The Silent Sea (2021) and as the recruiter in Squid Game.
